Meet Our Model: Janeen

Janeen_edited.jpg

Delightfully vibrant in every way, is Janeen. Once she stepped out of her car and turned the corner to walk along my front sidewalk, I was in awe of her radiant charm and effortless luminosity - where her smile lit up the already blue sky. She was full of personal warmth and intuitive beauty. She is the sister of Jada, one of my other amazing models, and I felt so blessed that she took the time to participate with my bathing suit campaign this summer. If I must say one thing, besides the praiseworthy fact that she is so intellectually charming and was polite and astute, this girl has vocal talent. Perhaps the fact that she is serving in the United States Army and makes it look effortless, that alone was impressive. For me personally, I do not know too many women who are in the Army, and to my knowledge it takes pure sacrifice and extreme dedication of one's life to be a part of something so profound. Yet, with this stature of honor, it was her voice that I was fascinated with. Once she told me she was a singer, I without hesitation asked her to sing for me. Lord, she is an angel in a golden human body, for I was in tears with her voice of harmony and utter talent. She transformed me in that fraction of a moment to sing upon my request, sharing her gift from God.

  • "Why are you involved in this Red+Black Campaign for Pretty Worthy?"

I learned about the campaign from my sister, Jada, who is also a model in this campaign. I loved the idea of celebrating women of all sizes and from all walks of life. This project sparked not only joy but empowerment for me and I was honored to be asked to be a part of it.

  • "Do you often wear bathing suits? And what is the type of suits you like to wear most?"

Yes! If I could wear swimsuits every day, I would! I like to wear anything that is fun, colorful, and comfortable…sometimes that’s a one-piece, sometimes that’s a bikini. I usually wear a cover-up with it as a means to protect my skin (in addition to sunblock).

  • "Tell me something beautiful that you LOVE about your body."

I LOVE my smile. I tried for two years to smile with my eyes, when masks were mandatory, but it wasn’t the same as smiling with my whole face. I love my smile and being able to show my inner self to others with just a smile.

  • "Tell us something personal or funny about yourself?"

I still remember random commercials and theme songs from TV shows from my childhood. I don’t realize I’m singing or humming them when I zone out (like when I’m selecting produce at the grocery store or waiting for my luggage at baggage claim).

  • "Do you have a business that you would like to share with us, or what you do for a living? We would love to hear about it."

I am a Public Affairs Officer in the United States Army Reserve. I am also a professional vocalist.

  • "What do you do for fun in Vegas? Any special hot spots you like to go to?"

I love hiking and finding new trails to “get lost” in. I also love listening to live music, going to karaoke bars with friends, spending time with friends and family.

  • "Do you have a favorite vacation spot that you have traveled to?"

Performing on cruise ships for almost 15 years has blessed me with the opportunity to see so many places…I’d say that one of my favorite vacation spots would be the Canary Islands, Spain.

  • "What exotic place would you like to travel to in the future? And who would you bring?"

I would love to visit The Seychelles, or Mauritius. I would bring my best friends or my Mr. Right.

  • "What does this bathing suit campaign mean to you? Does it give you some sort of empowerment?"

I want to empower and remind myself that beauty is whatever I deem it to be…not what society says it should be. No age, race, size, etc. determines what makes me beautiful. It is timeless and so am I.

  • "What makes you special or unique in life?"

My love for my family and my tribe, serving my country and being able to touch lives with music, and having the continuous support of my circle throughout all of my endeavors makes me special. The love I feel from those around me confirms that I am special and worthy.
